Parents Association
As the parents of Whirlwind divers, we stay actively involved in our children’s experiences by providing support and services outside practice times. Throughout the year, the Parents Association organizes programs and events to help build community and support the goals of the program. Families take mentorship roles to help new families become acclimated to the world of competitive diving. In addition, the Parents Association sponsors fundraising events/meets, which give significant financial support to the Whirlwind program. Parents are encouraged to be involved and be a positive presence at practices, meets, and all Whirlwind functions.
The YMCA
The Y is at the heart of community life throughout the U.S. with 20 million-plus members of all faiths, races, ages, and incomes. At its core are the volunteers, who work to provide community-centered solutions to the heath and social needs of their communities. Each YMCA is as unique as the community it serves, but a spirit of collaboration and openness - a mission to bring people together - is the shared value that guides the over 2,500 Y’s in existence today.
Parents Association Executive Board
The parents who volunteer to serve on the Executive Board are responsible to report to the Head Coach Joe Somma and to the Executive Director of the YMCA.
The current board includes:
